A Solitude of Stars

Belle Celine is an excellent writer. She knows how to grip the page with intrigue and mystery. A Solitude of Stars is complex and compelling, and the reader continues to hang over the story as each chapter reveals more information that builds upon the shadow of Avery's mother's death. She soon finds herself with new classmates that are murderers and who know all about using mind control.

Celine works this complicated plot out in amazing ways, involving a web of many characters that are, in one way or another, intertwined with one another inside of this dark mystery. There are some issues with punctuation, mostly with tags, and the points-of-view blend into each other at times. I also wondered what became of Jet near the end. I also needed to see Avery acting sooner upon the revelation that there is a cult of murderers, though the ending would probably reach its same conclusion. The cult creeped me out; they have a sinister stealth of an angry snake. High marks for intrigue.
