The Silent Corner is an incredible pulsating race against time. Jane Hawk is on leave from the FBI after her husband, Nick, kills himself. But Jane knows Nick would never have taken his own life and when she uncovers a pattern of other similar "suicides", she makes finding the truth of these mysterious deaths her mission.

But the cost is high. She must keep a distance from her five-year old son as the unknown perpetrators have already threatened his life and are waiting at every corner of her perilous trek.

Never in the course of a novel have I seen a character deal with so much danger, risking her own life yet trusting that what is lurking underneath the tragic deaths will be revealed and meet its own demise.

It's breathtaking how brave and resilient and enduring Jane is. As always, Koontz creates a strong and worthy female character who can outsmart the bad guys, of which there are many.

The seemingly tachyon web propels us into an unforeseen world that, thankfully, is navigated by a character who we can feel safe next to, even when the rest of the world is falling apart.
