A Light in the Darkness

This is a good Christian suspense and it navigates the plot in an interesting way through multiple pivotal characters. I did run into issues with formatting, some spelling and mechanics, but nothing too major. Although the characters were distinct and diverse, it would have been helpful to "see" them, that is, for Bell to have included physical descriptions to give us a better picture. There were also times where parts of the setting weren't revealed until a page into the chapter (it isn't clear that a character is on a bed or in a car right away e.g.). Now putting those things aside, Bell's story proves worthy because it explores the most disturbing condition without making the reader feel too uncomfortable (because we get the predator's viewpoint too) and there's an expertise about his mindset that gets us into his head to see his intentions, something not easy to pull off, but she does so without diving too deep into the guy's dark psyche and revealing just enough to show the reader what Alexis, the MC, is dealing with. The story picks up in pace toward the middle as the investigation progresses, and what a suspenseful ride it is! This story reminded me a lot of the movie "The Call" in terms of the type of villain being portrayed, but, of course, Bell offers her own style and context. Another important and wonderful aspect of this novel is its desire to glorify God and to see His hand, even when a sick person lurks nearby. The family dynamics and the characters all show incredible development even in the midst of a heartbreaking kidnapping.
