My Second Chance

Like her previous novel, It Was Always You, I found myself immersed in this tale. A clean sweet story about a pregnant high schooler is an important issue to address in fiction. Judy Corry handles the delicate issue with compassion and realism.
The characters are realistically written and she presents Juliette's inner tension and the tension between her and Easton convincingly. Each moment counts in her stories, and each moment you can't wait to find out what will happen next.
I didn't appreciate how closed off Juliette was toward Easton, like she didn't trust him, which didn't seem fair. The way she handled her decision about the unborn child seemed stubborn and selfish, and a bit harsh, and I found myself siding with Easton when conflict arose between them. So, that was a bit off-putting for me, though it didn't take me out of the story.
Corry knows how to reach into your heart and make you feel things you haven't felt in a while, and that's a very good thing. In this case, for me, her descriptions of being pregnant totally resonated, bringing back all of its amazing facets.
And, although not a suspense, I was surprised--and satisfied--by the ending.
Take a chance on this novel. It's a great simple read about a very important issue.
