I picked this one up because it's a highly rated book with many five star reviews and because the main character is older than most in these types of romances. However, what I wasn't prepare for was a very long-winded read.
The story turned out to be a dry plot with boring on-the-nose dialogue and repetitive scenes with sudden clumsy movements by Anne, the main character, resulting in nothing funny or spectacular.
Steven is the only endearing character in this book, and the only one who is relatable, which is a shame since we should be rooting for Anne. But with a middle-aged woman who gets angry at Steven for no good reason, who is insulted by him for no reason, and whose conversations are drier than the Sahara desert and as painful as bulging discs, I could not get through this one.
