Did you like any of the following movies: The Crush, Single White Female, Swimfan? Then Sonny Mallhi's (writer) The Roommate will fit nicely on your shelf.

Sara Matthews (Minka Kelly) is excited to share a dorm with her new roommate Rebecca (Leighton Meester). Immediately Sara's other new friends and boyfriend detect that something is odd about Rebecca's behavior, but Sara is too trusting and sweet to judge her, unfortunately.
This dark thriller is replete with multiple shocking situations that branch off Rebecca's obsession with Sara. Rebecca's scathing behavior toward Sara's close friends proves dangerous. If Rebecca perceives that anyone may come between her and her roommate, then she will use memorable threats, sometimes deadly, to ensure they never get close to Sara again.
Rebecca is an unusual villain. She uses manipulation in a deeply insane kind of way, going to intense extremes just to keep Sara close to her. Rebecca is the definition of intimidating. She invites fear in you. She makes you squirm.
Sadly, Sara sees only what Rebecca wants her to see. If only Sara would listen to her friends, then Rebecca wouldn't be able to do all the horrible things she does. Oh, wait. Then there wouldn't be a movie. Then we wouldn't have this thrill ride of a mystery that director Christian E. Christiansen paces so effectively. Around each plot point, Rebecca's disturbed state of mind manifests itself in more troubling ways. And what makes the suspense so real is that she is hurting those who Sara cares for and that Sara is not only unaware of her dark side, but is a sweet, honest, trusting and caring soul. The contrasts between these two characters works magnificently for this film's storyline and it further cements the tension. We are fastened to the screen all the way through the action-filled ending.
