Mother, May I Sleep With Danger

The opening scene has got to be the best I have ever seen in a film like this. Through a shocking display, we quickly learn how unyielding and emotional unsteady Ivan Sergei (Billy) is. After seeing his girlfriend kissing his fellow classmate Kevin, Billy tries to manipulate her into marrying him and when that doesn't work, he quickly kills her.

Sergei plays the EERILY UNSTABLE boyfriend so well, it's haunting. With a stony-faced expression that rarely breaks, whenever he is in a scene, you cringe. He is persistent in his "love" for Tori Spelling's character (Laurel) so much so that you fear for her life every second. When will he snap? If she says the wrong thing? If she laughs? If she tries to talk to her mother? Her friends? This picture is very well done with uncertain tension at every corner.

Tori Spelling pulls off her role of the trusting girlfriend quite effectively too. She notices that Kevin is off but she wants to believe that he "loves her" as he likes to repeat. He creates imaginary situations in his head about Laurel (she loves someone else, her mother doesn't care about her) and he strings Laurel along, incessantly claiming his affection so much it is stifling.

A well-done story with great acting and a memorable ending.
