I'm surprised I missed this one when it came out over twenty years ago. This movie deals with a serious subject matter--rape--and it does it with respect and integrity.
Candace Cameron plays Freshman Melissa who is lured into a drunken state without her consent and swiftly led into the leader of the fraternity's room, Scott ( Mark-Paul Gosselaar ). She believes he will let her rest as he looks for her friend; instead, he rapes her.
Writing Quality: Cameron plays the role of the victim very well. You feel her pain, despair, and humiliation. You wonder at those who try to make her drunken state the cause of the rape. And Scott is so impressed with himself for getting away with this behavior (it's not his first time) and such a likeable helpful and friendly guy on campus that when Melissa is able to tell people that she was raped, most of them have a hard time believing it.
Scare factor: The actual act and other scenes where he runs after her.
Content (language, violence & sex): Some language, the act of rape is violent, though only partly shown, no sex.
Values: Highly valued. Even those who support Scott initially begin to realize just how wrong they were.
This is one of those movies that deals with a horrible act with delicacy. The message takeaway assures us not to let such a horrific act go unpunished or overtake the victim.
